Membership

The membership over the years since the establishment of NBCRA has grown to incorporate
all interested
parties ranging from areas north of Prince George to Fort Nelson, and neighbouring
Alberta communities.

Membership is made of up municipalities, recreational businesses and fitness enthusiasts. Membership
can be
attained by anyone (individual or group) that shares the purpose, beliefs and principals of the society.

To become a member, contact northernbcrecreation@fortstjohn.ca to be included on the
meeting invitation list. As of 2018, fees
consist of $50.00 per person annually and are due 30 days
prior to the Annual General Meeting.

A membership is transferrable to the position, in the event that a member resigns
from their employment
that permits their involvement with the society. The membership remains
with the organization that paid the
membership fee.

Networking

NBCRA facilitates two Conference-style meetings per year, one in the Fall and one accompanying
the Annual General Meeting in the Spring. Member organizations may volunteer to host each
meeting, and every effort will be made to rotate the meeting schedule throughout the region regularly.
The host community is responsible for providing the location, activities, and meals for the meeting.
Assistance in facilitating and hosting is provided by the NBCRA Board of Directors.

The purpose of the Society's networking meetings are to provide a forum for discussion and exchange of
information, to promote and foster recognition and awareness of leisure and recreation in the community
and promote individual well-being in the region, and to encourage and promote skill development
of both volunteers and practitioners.

Funding Opportunities

Member organizations seeking funding to support training and professional development of recreation staff
may apply for coverage of training expenses using the application process identified in the
NBCRA Policies and Procedures. The funding program will provide assistance for the traveling,
baggage, mileage, accommodation, and per diem for the instructor to reduce the registration fee in the
community. The course must be a regional course that will benefit more than one community and be approved
by membership as needed in the region.

For more information, view the documents library on the 'About Us' page.
