Northern BC Recreation Association's Annual Post-Secondary Scholarship

Scholarship Recipients

The annual Post-Secondary Scholarship, sponsored by the Northern BC Recreation Association, recognizes students pursuing education in recreation, physical education, leisure studies, or kinesiology. The following recipients have demonstrated community engagement, leadership, and the pursuit of formal education in recreation or a related field.

Hannah Gough (2024)

Hannah is from Fort Nelson and is currently pursuing a Bachelor's of Kinesiology.  Hannah says, "Recreation programs were key to my friendships and socialization as I grew up, and this made me realize how vital recreation programs are to a rural community." Hannah sees herself returning to northern BC to provide professional health and wellness care.

Layla Allin (2023)

Layla is from Fort St. John, and pursuing a Bachelor Degree in Health and Exercise Science. Layla has a passion for fitness education and promoting a healthy, balanced lifestyle. She hopes to further education to help people meet their health goals. 

Isaac Calliou (2022)

Isaac is from Fort St. John, and is pursuing post-secondary education in Kinesiology, and hoping to continue on to study physiotherapy or chiropractic care.

Megan Cote (2021)

Megan is from Fort St. John and is working toward a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology; after which she hopes to continue furthering her education in prosthetics and orthotics.

Megan Salinas (2020)

Megan is from Fort St. John, and is pursuing a degree in Human Kinetics. She hopes to pursue further education in Physiotherapy.

Britney Swaffield (2019)

Britney is from Dawson Creek, and is currently enrolled in her 3rd year, studying for a Bachelor of Arts in Sport, Recreation, and Tourism. She hopes to pursue a career in therapeutic recreation.
